Ukraine and Turkey agree to collaborate on new UAV – UV – Unmanned Vehicles

Ukraine’s state-owned Ukrspetsexport agency has formed a joint venture with Turkey’s Baykar Defense unmanned aerial vehicle manufacturer, while will lead to the two nations cooperating on the development of precision weapons and aerospace technologies.

One of the first projects will be the development of a new generation of UAV, a system that will be able to conduct detailed reconnaissance from high altitudes, have a long endurance and considerable cruising speed, and be able to fire a wide range of high-precision weapons.

This new system will be made possible by the widespread use of composite materials, digital technologies, and a Ukrainian-made engine capable of operating reliably in extreme conditions, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine says.

In addition, it claims that they will be able to carry a large amount of armament, even compared to conventional assault aircraft.

Ukraine and Turkey have a strong experience of effective cooperation in the field of defence technologies, it adds.

In January 2019, it was announced that Ukraine was to receive six examples of Baykar’s Bayraktar TB2 UAV.
